Seat belt keeps driver safe after rollover on I-95 in Boxford
BOXFORD - A Lynn man is lucky to be OK after his Honda veered off Interstate 95, rolled over and came to a stop in Boxford woods yesterday afternoon, police said.
David Nguyen, 23, told Massachusetts State Police that he'd been cut off by another car, said Trooper Thomas Murphy, a police spokesman. Nguyen could have been badly injured in the accident, Murphy said.
"He was wearing a seat belt. That's why he wasn't ejected," he said.
Nguyen was not injured when his 1996 Honda Civic came to a rest near the Route 97 exit at 3:48 p.m. Numerous motorists called 911 to report the car in the woods.
No charges have been filed, and police are still trying to figure out how the accident happened. Nguyen could not describe the car he said had cut him off.
"It's still under investigation, but we do have some witnesses saying there may have been some other vehicles involved, possibly with erratic operation," Murphy said.
