School's Open-Drive Carefully

The school year brings special challenges to motorists, as children
congregate, walk (and sometimes run) and ride in areas near and on
the way to and from schools. The early part of the school year is
critically important, as drivers are seeing children in areas they
haven't been for the last few months. Drivers need to remember that
children are not small adults, and do not react to traffic
situations the way adults would. Drivers in school zones, near bus
stops, or in any area where children gather, should be extra careful
and lower their speed, leave longer stopping distances, and scan the
sides of roads for children darting out. School's Open-Drive
Carefully is AAA's annual public information campaign encouraging
both drivers and students to take extra care during these exciting
mornings and afternoons.

Gee, that's nice a public service announcement.

I always drive slow when I am in a school zone. Colleges and universities especially and any other of the many places where young adult women hang around. Doesn't do me any good, but looking is free.
