Report on the Minkler Incident
On February 25TH, 2010, Fresno County Deputy Sheriff Joel Wahlenmaier and Reedley Police Officer Javier Bejar were murdered in the line of duty in Minkler, CA by Rick Liles during the service of a search warrant. Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims directed an independent review to identify what occurred, to understand how the events unfolded within the context of what the responding officers knew and to develop lessons learned. This is the resulting report.
