PEMBROKE (WBZ) ― A woman and a young boy are accused of grabbing toys and candy off shelves at a shop in Pembroke last week, the Patriot Ledger reported.
Pembroke police told the paper that 60-year-old Marie Cooper will be charged with theft after she had the boy help her steal goods from Fedeles Hand Dipped Chocolates on Church Street last Friday afternoon.
According to the Ledger, the two were caught on surveillance video grabbing stuffed animals and candy. At one point in the video, it appears as though Cooper was trying to shield the boy as he stuffed candy in his pockets, the Ledger reported.
Police told the paper that the boy is not Cooper's child but she was in charge of him at the time of the alleged theft.
