Has anyone heard anything about a new law requiring LEO's to wear only Lime Green reflective clothing (traffic Vest, rain coats, reversible jackets etc.)

I was informed recently by some auxiliary officers in the SSPI academy that there is some new law that also phrohibits LEo's from wearing Orange and requires that all uniforms have POLICE written on the back.

Also that Sheriffs (Lets not start this fight again) must have Sheriff on their backs if they are not performing Law Enforcement Duties, but if they are performing law enforcement duties must have POLICE.

Can someone help me out with this?

Lime green is the approved safety color under ANSI.

American National Standards Institute

ANSI Class I - visibility in incliment conditions near traffic w/ speeds
under 25 mph
ANSI Class II " " w/ speeds between 25 and 50 mph

ANSI Class III " " speeds over 50 mph

Not law, recommendation only.

No one will be arrested for wearing Blaze Orange.

I did here somewhere that OSHA was going to mandate hi-vis green. But nothing have came of it yet. They were going to work something with insurance co. to give PD's a "discount" for making it policy. Again, I heard this two years ago, and nothing has been offical. So basically its just another LE rumor.
