The scandal-plagued Probation Department failed to notify the state auditor's office - as required by law - that it lost so much electronic-monitoring equipment that emergency rules for inventory oversight were put in place, Auditor Suzanne Bump confirmed yesterday.
"As a result of the news coverage, we are reaching out to the Probation Department and offering our assistance to help them meet their obligation to report lost or stolen property," Bump said after the Herald yesterday reported on the losses.
State law mandates government managers "must immediately report all unaccounted for variances, losses, shortages or thefts of funds or property to the Office of the State Auditor." But Bump's spokesman, Christopher Thompson, said, "As far as we can see, we have not received any reports of lost or stolen GPS equipment from the Probation Department."

I believe those would be the ankle monitors. Some of the idiots cut them off. If thats the case its just a matter of paperwork.
