Police: Woman attacked boyfriend while he was driving

A Grove Street woman was arrested yesterday after police say she attacked her boyfriend while he was driving, then continued fighting with him at the police station.
Luz D. Romero, 33, was arraigned in Milford District Court on charges of assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot, after the alleged attack.
Police Officer Paul Parisi said he broke up a scuffle that spilled from the couple's car into the police station lobby around 8 a.m.
"They were angry, fighting, yelling," Parisi said. "I went out there and separated them."
The boyfriend, who had a bloody nose, told police Romero attacked him during an argument over gas money. He was driving to work at the time with Romero, who he described as his live-in girlfriend, Parisi said.
The victim turned his car around to bring Romero home, when she started smacking him. She kicked his face twice against the driver's side window, Parisi wrote in his report.
"She punched him, kicked him, threw a chocolate milk at him," he said.
The victim told police he bit Romero's right hand in self-defense.
"He was trying to protect himself and drive at the same time," Parisi said.
The victim drove to the police station, where Romero was arrested at 8:19 a.m.
Judge Robert Calagione ordered Romero released without bail, with the conditions she stay away from her boyfriend and not contact or abuse him. She must also refrain from drinking alcohol and submit to screens.
Romero, of 11 Grove St., is due back in court for a pretrial conference on Dec. 11.
