FITCHBURG -- Guns played a part in two Monday night robberies, according to Fitchburg Police Capt. Charles Tasca.

A store owner with a gun chased a suspect with a knife out of JV's Variety on Fairmount Street around 6:30 p.m., Tasca said.
"He showed his gun and the suspect took off," Tasca said.
The owner declined to comment Tuesday. Tasca said the owner has all the legal licenses for the gun. Another suspect entered the West Fitchburg Restaurant and Pizzeria on Westminster Street around 6:50 p.m. and showed the staff a gun, Tasca said. The pizzeria suspect showed a small, black pistol and demanded money. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Tasca said. No arrests have been made in the cases yet.
