Swansea -
Police are searching for a man accused of breaking into a Lafayette Street home Wednesday night and attempting to slash a resident's throat.
Police said they received a 911 call redirected from the state police from the Lafayette Street resident reporting a man had broken into her home with a knife and a struggle ensued.
During the fracas, the victim was sliced on the neck, suffering a superficial wound.
Police described the assailant as being in his late 30s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin to medium build, dark hair and wearing a blue or black crew neck sweat shirt with jeans.
Police said employees at a nearby gas station informed them that a man matching that description rode a bicycle to the gas station and attempted to call a cab.
That man was later located by Swansea detectives and determined he was not involved in the incident.

It was crazy that night. The State Police K-9 were there along with other troopers, Swansea Police and even a helicopter continued to fly around. I have not heard any else yet on the situation.
