A San Francisco Police Officer is a multifaceted individual with extensive training in community policing, crime prevention, investigations, narcotics enforcement, forensic science, law, and youth services. Uniform Patrol is the backbone of the San Francisco Police Department. We are accepting applications to test for this exciting entry level position November 16-22, 2004
TO QUALIFY TO TAKE THE POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION, YOU MUST:
· Be at least 20 years old (there is no maximum age limit).
· Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien. There is no residency requirement.
· Have a valid driver license.
· Not have been convicted of a felony in California or of an act in any other state or Federal jurisdiction or in any other county that would have been a felony if committed in California or any misdemeanor that carries a penalty prohibiting ownership, possession, or control of a firearm.
TO BE HIRED, YOU MUST:
· Be at least 21 years old.
· Have a U.S. high school diploma, a G.E.D. with a minimum total score of 225; individual section scores of 35 or greater prior to 7/21/84 and 40 or greater post 7/21/84.
· Be a U.S. citizen.
· Successfully complete all components of the Police Officer examination and the background investigation process.
POLICE OFFICER DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Patrolling their districts, responding to calls for service, conducting investigations, writing reports, pursuing and detaining suspects, and making arrests.
· Participating in community policing programs.
· Enforcing traffic and parking laws.
· Working with superiors, peers, and other Department personnel.
· Preparing for and participating in planned events.
· Preparing for and attending court.
· Participating in self-development activities.
SALARY:
The current annual entry-level salary for Police Officers is:
$57,916 to $80,649
POLICE OFFICERS' BENEFITS ARE:
· 10 paid vacation days a year during the first five years of service.
· 15 paid vacation days a year during the next 10 years of service.
· 20 paid vacation days a year after 15 years of service.
· 4 floating holidays.
· 13 paid sick days a year and several healthcare plans.
· Bilingual pay and special assignment pay.
· Retirement Eligibility at Age 50, with a maximum of 90% benefit based on years of service.
