The City of Myrtle Beach has the following job openings for the week of March 20, 2005. The Human Resources Department is located in the City Services Building, 921A Oak Street. POLICE OFFICER - Police Department. Performs responsible protective service work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances with required related work. This position requires graduation from high school or GED equivalency, 21 years old to comply with SC Law Enforcement Council entrance requirements and possession of a valid driver's license. It also requires a thorough background investigation. SC Criminal Justice Certification and experience as a Police Officer is preferred. REQUIRED: Completed Standard Application, Supplemental Application and Statement of Honesty. Resumes accepted only with completed application package. Salary: $26,617/year, plus benefits (non-certified starting salary); $29,378year, plus benefits (SC certified starting salary). DEADLINE: 5:00 p.m., 3-21-05

RECREATION ASSISTANT - Cultural and Leisure Services Department/ Recreation Division at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. Temp./Part-time position. Performs front desk duties; answers telephone; registers patrons; collects fees; cleans work area. Prefer CPR Certified. Requires knowledge of a variety of public recreational activities and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups. Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, and possess a valid DL. Rate: $8.62/hour. No benefits. Position Open Until Filled

LIFEGUARD - Cultural & Leisure Services Department/Recreation Division at Pepper Geddings & Canal Street. Temporary/Part-time. Requires current lifeguard certification; at least 16 years old, valid driver's license and available to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends. Rate: $8.62/hour. No benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

SWIM INSTRUCTOR/SWIM COACH - Cultural and Leisure Services Department/Recreation Division. Part-time positions. Responsible for teaching swim lessons to all ages and/or coaching swim teams. Requires water safety instructor certification; be at least 17 years old, valid driver's license and must be available to work a variety of hours including weekends. Rate: $9.51/hour. No benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER (Part-time/PRN) - The Fire Department is adding a pool of individuals to perform technical and specialized work functions associated with preparing for and responding to medical, rescue, and disaster emergency calls on an as-needed basis. Must have high school diploma or equivalent and have and maintain valid certifications including: South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (E.M.T - P), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and preferred to be SCFA OSHA Firefighter, Hazardous Materials First Responder. May be required to have other certifications as related to assignment. Must have valid driver's license. Hourly Rate: $12.18. No Benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE (Temporary/Part-time) - Cultural and Leisure Service Department/Whispering Pines Golf Course. Requires some experience in a food and beverage operation; skill in preparing a variety of grill food items; ability to make change and operate a cash register; and the ability to handle beverage cart duties. Flexible hours/schedules available. Must be 21 years old. Hourly Rate: $6.73. No Benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT - Cultural & Leisure Services Dept./Recreation Div. at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. Temporary Positions. Performs work with the after-school childcare program throughout the school year. The hours are Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position will carry over to Summer Camp. Coordinates and instructs children in a variety of organized recreational activities. Requires high school graduation and a valid driver's license. Must have experience or training in youth recreation programs and some experience working with children. Rate: $8.62/hour. No Benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

Performs work with the after-school childcare program throughout the school year. The hours are Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position will carry over to Summer Camp. Coordinates and instructs children in a variety of organized recreational activities. Requires high school graduation and a valid driver's license. Must have experience or training in youth recreation programs and some experience working with children. Rate: $8.62/hour. No Benefits. Positions Open Until Filled

PLANT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - Public Works Department/Surface Water Treatment Facility. Assists in the maintenance and repair of specialized machinery and equipment in the treatment facility with related work as required. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or vocational school including or supplemented by courses in the mechanical trade and considerable experience in mechanical maintenance work. Must have general knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical and mechanical trades. Must possess a valid driver's license. Salary Range: $24,115 - $37,601/year, plus benefits. DEADLINE: 5:00 p.m., 3-28-05

GROUNDSKEEPER - Cultural and Leisure Services Department. Whispering Pines Golf Course, Part time/Temp. Four (4) - Five (5) days per week, three (3) - four (4) hours per day beginning at 6 a.m.. Prefer some experience changing cups, moving tee markers, empting trash and related golf course maintenance, including mowing, raking, and edging. Must possess a valid driver's license. Rate: $8.62/hour. No Benefits. EEO/H. Positions open until filled
