Federal agents are at the scene of a home where a police officer was fatally shot during what emergency dispatchers say was a home invasion in a Pittsburgh suburb.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the officer has died, but is releasing no other information.
Officials aren't saying why the FBI and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents are at the scene about 10 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, along with Indiana Township police and county homicide detectives.
County dispatchers say the officer was shot during a break-in reported about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Dispatchers say the officer is not believed to work for the township. Township police have not responded to telephone calls.
It is not clear whether the officer lived at the residence.
