Man Faces Reckless Endangerment Charges

BOSTON -- A Vermont man was arrested early Wednesday after police said he fired a rifle through a wall while he celebrated Sen. Barack Obama's presidential win.

Burlington police said they were called to an apartment on North Street just before 7 a.m. for a report of what appeared to be numerous bullet holes in the rear of the building.

Officers determined the holes were made by bullets passing through an exterior enclosed porch wall and window, before being embedded in an interior wall of the building. One round actually passed through the interior apartment wall and was found on the floor, police said. A bullet was found lodged in a second building nearby, police said.
Police were able to determine that the shots were fired from inside a third building. Police said they arrested James Dewalt, 34, after he admitted firing 18 rounds from a Russian-made .22 caliber rifle while celebrating Obama's election.

Dewalt will be charged with three counts of reckless endangerment.
