LEOMINSTER -- A Sterling man is charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly attacking his elderly parents with a shovel Tuesday.

Gregory Miller, 46, of 6 Blueberry Lane, Sterling, was arraigned Wednesday in Leominster District Court on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over the age of 60 and destruction of property more than $250.
Police responded to 52 Orchard St. at around 6 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of an assault, according to a police report from Patrolman Jose Algarin Jr.
Miller's parents, both in their 70s, allege that their son came to their home that afternoon following an argument he had with his dad over the phone. The argument involved Miller's son, according to Algarin's report.
The argument escalated in the alleged victims' yard leading to Miller allegedly picking up a shovel and hitting his father in the back with it, the report states.
The father then ran inside, grabbed a knife for protection, and called police, according to the report. At that point Miller allegedly pushed the shovel into his mother's mouth as she attempted to talk to him through a screen door.
Miller had left the home when police arrived, but turned himself in at police headquarters upon learning that they were looking for him. The alleged victims were both bleeding when officers arrived, but declined medical assistance, the report states. Miller's parents told police that he had never attacked them in the past, according to the police report.
Miller was released on personal recognizance bail Wednesday. He is due back in court on Nov. 3 for a pretrial hearing.

personal recognizance bail Wednesday.

Send him to Met State, and then tear down a building around him. Once you start hurting people like your parents you belong locked up!
