Suspect Facing Charges In Another Crash That Killed Step-Daughter
LEBANON, Maine -- Maine State Police said a New Hampshire man, out on bail following a drunk-driving arrest Wednesday night in New Hampshire, was involved in another crash Thursday morning in Maine.
Police believe Jason Gagnon was driving a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire that was found around 1:20 a.m. Thursday submerged in a swamp near Northeast Pond in Lebanon. An off-duty Milton, N.H., firefighter called to say he saw a car in the water and reported seeing a man and woman walking away from the crash site.
Police found Gagnon and his girlfriend, Cherie Martin, 40, also of Rochester, at a small camp in Lebanon.
Gagnon faces charges from Thursday morning's crash and is also being held on charges stemming from a fatal crash last year in New Hampshire that killed his 8-year-old step-daughter.
Gagnon is expected to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon.
