SHREWSBURY- A man wearing a bicycle helmet and a tan bandage over his nose robbed is being sought by police following a robbery that netted an undetermined amount of cash from at the Citizens Bank on Route 9.

Police responded to a reported bank robbery at 1:58 p.m. Friday at the Citizens Bank branch located at 50 Boston Turnpike (Route 9 and White City Plaza). The robbert had escaped before officers arrived at the bank.

According to police, the suspect handed over a note to the teller and demanded money. Although the bank was occupied by customers and employees at the time of the robbery, there are no reports of injuries.

The suspect is described as wearing a "bicycle outfit," a light-colored bicycle helmet that was possibly silver, dark sunglasses and a tan bandage on his nose. The suspect is a white male, 45 to 50 years old, brown or blond hair, medium build, approximately 5'10" tall. He was wearing a red Nike shirt, black spandex pants, and a black messenger bag with a shoulder strap.

Shrewsbury and state police are investigating. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Randolph Holmquist at (508) 841-8458.
