Ride Raises Money For Children Of First Responders
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- A long ride commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City paid off in a big way for the South Portland Police Department.
The department won a 2009 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide police motorcycle.
The ride helped raise money for a scholarship foundation for the children of the first responders.
The South Portland Police Department qualified for a drawing in New York City after taking part in a multicity tour of all the crash sites involved in the attacks.
Receiving the motorcycle is significant for the department because the rest of the department's motorcycles are leased.
