CONWAY - An overnight standoff in North Conway ended this morning with the arrest of a man wanted for allegedly robbing two pedestrians earlier this month at gunpoint, according to police.
Provencher

Burton Provencher, 30, of 21 Cross St., is in custody.
At about 10 p.m. yesterday, police went to Provencher's apartment with a warrant for his arrest. According to police reports, he barricaded himself inside and refused to come out.
Police evacuated nearby homes, said Lt. Chris Perley, and as the situation went on, the New Hampshire State Police SWAT team was called in.
During the standoff, he said, "several rounds of chemical munitions" were fired and police entered the residence, taking Provencher into custody. He sustained minor injuries during the arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in the District Court of Northern Carroll County to face charges of armed robbery, being a felon with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
