Fall River -
A motor vehicle violation led to police to arrest two men believed to be members of the Bloods street gang.
Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Bernier said officers Brett Kimball and Gregory Wiley on Saturday observed the vehicle at the intersection of Rodman Street and Plymouth Avenue and learned the listed owner/operator Sophea Chao had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Bernier said the officers stopped the vehicle and noticed the four occupants were wearing clothing depicting them as members of the Bloods street gang.
Chao was then removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest for the warrant.
The officers learned one of the passengers, identified as Jason Pieu, also had an active arrest warrant and was placed under arrest.
Bernier said it was at that point that Kimball saw a .22 caliber handgun on the floor of the car. After confiscating the weapon, the officers determined it was loaded.
Chao, 21, of 859 Pine St., #209, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Pieu, 17, of 42 Portland St., Lawrence, was charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, subsequent offense; possession of ammunition without a FID card and a violation of parole warrant was served.
