CADIZ, Ky. --
Police said they have arrested a suspect in the deaths of two teenage girls and their younger brother who were discovered after authorities responded to a house fire in rural Kentucky.
State police spokesman Dean Patterson said Kevin Dunlap, 35, of Hopkinsville, Ky., was charged Saturday with multiple counts of capital murder and capital kidnapping as well as one count of rape, one count of attempted murder, burglary and three counts of tampering with evidence.
Dunlap has been sequestered in the Christian County Jail. No bond has been set.
Police and firefighters responded Wednesday night to the home in Roaring Spring, near the sprawling military post on the Tennessee border.
The victims were Kayla Williams, 17, Kortney Frensley, 14, and Ethan Frensley, 5.
A fourth person was injured in the fire but has not been identified.
The coroner’s office said that after performing an autopsy on all three bodies, they discovered that Kayla Williams was killed with a cut to her throat.
The official cause of death for Kortney and Ethan Frensley is listed as multiple stab wounds.
State police said that when their efforts lead to the discovery of Dunlap as a suspect they began a stakeout at his home in Hopkinsville.
The stakeout lasted from 9 p.m. Friday until his arrest Saturday morning.
Officers said that after serving search warrants at Dunlap’s home, they found several pieces of evidence linked to the fire in Trigg County.
