Fall River -
Police have arrested three 17-year-olds and are seeking two other people in connection with a double stabbing in the area of President Avenue and Elsbree Street last week.
Police arrested Vincent J. Valois III of 117 Boyden St., Kyle Dupras of 166 Tuttle St. and Richard Lambert of 194 Diman St. Each are charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, affray, threatening to commit a crime and conspiracy.
Police withheld the identities of the victims in the Sept. 25 incident. One was treated at Charlton Memorial Hospital for a stab wound to the lower back. The other declined medical attention.
Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Mauretti said officers responded to a "large fight" complaint and were told a stab victim was at the hospital.
A second person was stabbed less seriously, police were told.
The victims said the altercation stemmed from a Sept. 24 argument with members of the Asian Boyz street gang, Mauretti said. On the day of the incident, he said, the same males approached the victims again and "initiated another verbal altercation that turned physical."
The victims insisted that they are not members of any gang, but "it is believed that the assailants felt otherwise," Mauretti said.
After an investigation, Officer Brett Kimball of the Special Operations Division's Gang Unit secured arrest warrants for five males. Three were arrested and police seek another adult and a juvenile.
