Police arrested a Plymouth man Wednesday after a resident reported seeing him use a knife to break into a rooming house at 24 Linden St.
John J. Pompeo, 29, of 284 Court St., Plymouth, was charged with felony daytime breaking and entering, driving after license suspension, driving a vehicle unregistered and uninsured, a number plate violation, speeding in violation of a special regulation, refusing to identify himself as the driver of the vehicle, larceny, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest, police said.
Whitman Officer Kevin Harrington said Pompeo allegedly used a knife to open the front door to the rooming house where his mother is a resident. A witness reported seeing Pompeo later drive away in a gold Nissan Pathfinder and called police with the registration number.
Harrington said Pompeo led police on a vehicle chase and later tried to avoid capture on foot before he was arrested.
Officer Matthew Kenealy suffered minor injuries during the foot chase and sought treatment at Brockton Hospital, Harrington said.
