I could be wrong, but I am not aware that the appointed position of Commissioner of Corrections needs correctional experience. Anybody know for sure?

I was wrong. I looked it up. 5 years of adult correctional supervision is needed. It does not say anything about having been a correctional officer. I think it was Ch 27, Sec 1.

The legislature should make minimum qualifications. In Worcester, there is a former inmate running.
