A Pittsburgh police officer was injured, and a man was arrested after a chase through traffic in Shadyside.
Police said that Ramon Walker, 28, of the Hill District, was driving a sport utility vehicle on South Millvale Avenue when he swerved to miss a woman on a bicycle and hit a sign pole that struck and damaged his SUV.
Zone 5 police officers spotted the damaged SUV on Centre Avenue and attempted to pull it over, at which point a pursuit ensued, according to police.
The vehicular pursuit ended in the Hill District where Walker crashed his SUV into a police car, injuring a police officer inside, said police.
Walker allegedly fled the scene and was pursued on foot by another police officer who caught and used a Taser on him, according to police.
Police said the injured officer was admitted to UPMC South Side. His injuries were not life-threatening. Walker was taken to Mercy Hospital and was checked out with no negative effects from the taser.
Police said charges against Walker will include fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
