McKEESPORT, Pa. --
The McKeesport Police Department put one of its officers on leave after surveillance video filmed him assaulting a prisoner, according to Police Chief Joe Pero.
In an e-mail, Pero said the incident happened Saturday while somebody was locked in a holding cell at the police station.
The suspect -- Theodore Dixon Jr. -- turned himself in Monday afternoon on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, official oppression and terroristic threats, Pero said.
The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office is investigating the case.
