The Oshkosh Police Department is a progressive, proactive law enforcement agency. If you are interested in in learning more about, or applying to the Oshkosh Police, please contact either the Personnel Department for the City of Oshkosh, or Captain Van Ness.

The duties of a Patrol Officer are to protect, and serve the citizens of Oshkosh. A Police Officer must be able to perform their duties without benefit of direct supervision. An officer is required to develop thorough knowledge of Oshkosh Police Department policies, procedures, and job methods relating to work assignments. The Officer must have a working knowledge of Federal laws, State Statutes, and City Ordinances and must exhibit a considerable amount of discretion and initiative when dealing with the citizens of the community. The Patrol Officer must be physically fit, be able to perform all essential functions of a police officer, and must be able to use all standard police equipment, techniques, and use of force options.

POLICE OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS

The Oshkosh Police Department strives to hire the best Police Officers to serve our Community. If you are interested in being a part of a progressive Law Enforcement Community, you will first need to meet the following application qualifications:

A united States Citizen
At least Twenty years of age
No felony or Domestic Abuse convictions
Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License at the time of employment
Possess any of the following educational requirements:
A Bachelors Degree in any field
An Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice
Sixty college credits which are specific to criminal justice from an accredited four year college

Pass an Assessment Center

Pass a Medical/Physical Examination
