SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - As many as six masked Hispanic males forced their way through the back door of a two-family house in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. The home invasion happened at about 4:30 Monday morning at 106 Pasco Road.
Five people were in the house at the time, including two young children.
One of the tenants put up a struggle with the suspects, and in the process the 23-year-old was shot once in the leg and stabbed in back. No one else was hurt.
The suspects got away with a plasma TV and a laptop. While getting away, the suspects dropped the TV, which was recovered by police.
The stabbing victim is receiving treatment for non-life threatening wounds at Baystate Medical Center. Police think the home invasion was random and not targeted.
