MARLBOROUGH -
One police officer suffered minor injuries and another officer was threatened in an incident Sunday that resulted in the arrests of two Marlborough men on several charges, including public drinking, police said.
Claudionor E. Fernandes, of 34 Curtis Ave., and Reginaldo E. Fernandes, of 188 Boston Post Road East, were arrested after officers went to a disturbance at 34 Curtis Ave., police said.
"They didn't want to cooperate with officers (and) a struggle ensued," said Detective Martha Shea.
One police officer received bruises and scrapes as a result of the struggle, Shea said. It was unclear if the officer went to the hospital or would be out of work, Shea said.
Reginaldo Fernandes told one of the officers several times that once he got out of court he would find the him and kill him because of what happened, according to a court statement. Reginaldo Fernandes also resisted arrest and swore and yelled at the officer several times, according to the statement.
The officer said Fernandes was told several times to calm down.
Police were called to the building at about 5:30 p.m. for a report of about 30 men making a lot of noise and drinking in public. In his court statement, Officer Daniel Campbell said he told the men to go inside and quiet down.
About 25 minutes later, Campbell said he returned and saw the same men outside the building. Police told people in the area to leave several times, according to the statement.
Campbell approached Claudionor Fernandes and told him to go inside or he would be arrested.
When police tried to arrest Claudionor Fernandes, he resisted, Campbell said, and wrestled Fernandes to the pavement before arresting him. After the arrest he was bleeding from his mouth and nose from the fall, the statement said.
An officer also suffered minor injuries to his hand and forearm, the statement said.
Claudionor Fernandes and Reginaldo Fernandes were arraigned in Marlborough District Court yesterday. Their cases were continued until Oct. 10 for pretrial hearings. Judge Jonathan Brant released both men on personal recognizance, according to court documents.
The two men were charged with violations of city ordinances, public drinking, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace, police said.
Reginaldo Fernandes was also charged with intimidating a witness, police said.
