Norwell Man Arrested for Aggravated Statutory Rape of a Child
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at approximately 5:30 am, members of the Wareham Police Department Detective Division executed a search warrant at #89 Stetson Road in Norwell MA, where 27-year-old Ryan Palmer was placed under arrest, due to an arrest warrant obtained as a result of an investigation regarding a sexual assault of a female teen in Wareham. Entry into the home in Norwell by Wareham detectives, assisted by the Mass. State Police and officers of the Norwell Police Department was made without incident.
On Wednesday, November 7, 2012, parents of the teenaged female reported to the Wareham Police Department that their daughter had been sexually assaulted by a male that came to their home after meeting the teen online. Detectives later learned that the teen met Mr. Palmer, who indicated he was 21 years of age and provided a false name, on mylol.net, a teen dating web site. After having conversation with Mr. Palmer online, the teen continued to speak with him on Skype, an internet service where each party can view one another. During conversations, arrangements were made with regard to a personal visit by Mr. Palmer to the teen's home in Wareham, where a sexual encounter took place. Investigation conducted by Wareham Detectives regarding computer usage and web site addresses, along with assistance provided by Duxbury MA Detectives, led to the identification of the suspect in this case, whose true identity was learned to be 27 year old Ryan Palmer of Norwell, MA.
