STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A 59-year-old Norwalk woman has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of her husband, who died after gasoline on his clothes caught on fire.
Mary Ann Langley originally was charged with murder in the 2006 death of 55-year-old James Langley. A jury in Stamford Superior Court found her guilty Monday on the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Prosecutors allege Langley threw gasoline on her husband and lit a match, causing burns that led to his death 12 days later in Bridgeport Hospital. Prosecutors say she was angry because he was cheating.
Mary Ann Langley and her supporters have said she is not a violent person, and that they believe James Langley accidentally caused the fire during a daze brought on by his unregulated diabetes.
She is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 19.
