CHARLOTTE, N.C. --
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a drunken driver crashed into the back of a patrol car while an officer was in it.
Officer M.R. Pressley was making a traffic stop at 2 a.m. Sunday in front of Eastland Mall on Central Avenue when the drunken driver hit the patrol car. Police said the intoxicated driver never slowed down.
Pressley was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for a gash on the head. He has since been released.
Police told Eyewitness News that all of the emergency equipment on Pressley's patrol car was working when the crash happened, including the strobe light and the blue lights.
Officers have arrested the driver who they said hit Pressley's vehicle. Eyewitness News is working to learn more information about the suspect, and if that person was injured in the wreck.
