Has anyone going through the process received a phone call yet?
My Brother (not by blood) graduated and I couldn't attend. Thankfully he understood. He's a hell of a guy. I wish the entire class much success and safety, ESPECIALLY that one lunatic I was blessed to work with and call a friend.
Knock 'em dead Moishe!!!
Any word on when the background checks should start?
I've been wondering the same thing
For months all of your social media has been monitored and cameras and GPS devices have recorded much of your movement. The Background checks started BEFORE you could ever imagine.
i knew about the socia media being monitored, but i had no idea that they was monitoring our cameras and GPS also.
Cadets are having their house visits already
Anybody start the medical process yet?
Almost through Week Two. Anyone hearing how many have tapped out so far?
Not sure but they are backfilling which is good.
Any idea if they are planning on another academy off of 2017 CS list?
Did anyone get a card today who turned in all their stuff last academy and missed a seat? Just wondering, and assuming yes, if I’ll have to resubmit all the documentation or if they keep the paperwork from the last cycle? Either way I made copies thank god
I got an email today saying I was selected to take part in the process for BPD. I wasn't invited to the last academy though and never turned anything into them. I took the CS in 2017 and that's it.
I'll probably hear them out at least even though I plan on going fully in for the MSP academy.
Yeah I got mine yesterday. Says you have to show up in person by April 5th.. they give you plenty of time huh.
I was at BPD HQ today to just start the process. I was told they expect the academy to begin around nov/dec. I'm in the process for the State too which is around September. So that'll be interesting
Up till now based on what BPD is asking for they seem to be way more in depth than the State Police on the initial application. They're asking for excise tax returns, attendance records at work (didn't know those existed), etc. MSP is way more straightforward and just asks for history of employment, education and a lot of references.
Anyone have an insight on what goes on during BPD orientation or what to expect ?
Have you all passed in your packet yet?
Yeah that was supposed to be done on the 28th.
Nice! FYI, it can be a long process but is worth it in the long run. Good luck to all in the process
Question: I lived in Boston and took the 2017 Civil Service Exam, I didn’t do as well as I hoped and in the meantime I was offered a full-time job by a non-civil service department. I moved out of Boston last July and went to a municipal academy and have been working full time since December. I just got the email for me to go sign the list for Boston. Am I still eligible even though I moved out of Boston in July or does that make me ineligible? Thanks for the help.
As long as you lived for 1 full year in Boston prior to the 2017 CS exam then yeah you're eligible. It's a weird rule, but that's how it stands right now. You could literally move a day after the 2017 CS exam and be eligible for Boston, just as long as you were there for at least 1 full year prior.
NewGuy1991 pretty much has it right, however, you will have to move back into Boston to get a conditional offer of employment. Good luck!
Sounds like BPD is seriously looking to hire a lot of people based on the 2nd call for the list
And don't mind moving back to Boston for 10 years. And redoing the academy.
