Speculation = expectation & anticipation. I’m just gonna sit back and wait for my card, comforted by the knowledge that I’ve given the BPD every reason to hire me.

Do you have any idea how big it would be? Do you think they’re going back to classes of 50ish or stay with the 100+?

Doesn't seem like there is any reason whatsoever that they would make their classes any smaller. I would assume they would stay with the typical 90-110 area. Need bodies bad.

I heard emails should be sent within the next month. I don’t know if it’s solid or just rumor. But just wanted to know if anyone else heard the same thing?

December start, then a March or April card delivery? How far down the list you think they'll go. If they are having larger classes now due to the demand (i.e. 100 individuals per class), then that (2n +1) formula should get us down to the 200 range. I wonder if they will stop there for the first wave of cards?

I was told today from someone in the police department that the next class will not be starting until December, i can't confirm how accurate that is though.

2n + 1 does not exist in Boston. To get 100 recruits they will send out 500 cards. And when they dont get enough interest they will slow the process down even more and send out another 500.

2n+1 is based on the # of applicants willing to accept appointment. So they send out a lot more cards and than 2x what they want because a lot don't sign the certification.

Did they change that recently? Because a few years ago it was still 2n+1.
This was a case that was fairly recent: Screenshot_20180214-155915.png

They could always call for more that’s the minimum

    A
According to civil service law the chosen applicant must be within the 2n+1 formula, so that would be the max. A lot of people don't sign tho, so that's why for a class of 100 it's not unusual for them to get down a lot lower than 200.

Does anyone know any crazy, time consuming items needed for the background packet? I’m gonna be on vacation for likely a chunk of the time before it will be due and want to get a jump on it, thanks.

Trying to remember when I went through the process back in 2005 before I joined the mil they wanted me to provide excise tax release from city hall, certified driving record from RMV and W2s or tax transcripts in lieu of as well as voter registration in addition to the normal background info... Those items would probably be the most time consuming since you have to rely on outside agencies... But the packet when you get the application will have all the current requirements
