I heard it's a silly easy test......The firefighter hose-pull is tougher.
I took the PAT almost 2 weeks ago and pass it and still haven't heard anything, starting to feel like it was a waste of $150.
People got calls last Friday telling them that they're in. Not sure on orientation date or day one. Not a good sign if you haven't been contacted yet. Sorry guys I really feel for those that went through the whole thing to not get in. Its a shitty process.
Good luck R.O.'s. 26 weeks of fun starts Monday.
Any word on the next planned Boston police academy and how many recruits are being admitted?
Good luck today 55-15.
Hopefully 200! Ordered for a day walking beat mid week in December, WTF!
Wasn't that Bratton's thing back in the 80's ?
Walking beats ?
Heard it was easy money and overtime!
HAHA! Brass sends Ops plan for walking beats, be visible, interact with merchants, visitors, residents, patrol alleys to ensure the homeless aren't using them as public toilets, etc. Then same brass that wrote the ops plan drive around checking the walking beats (which shows a complete lack of trust in street level supervision-also hired as part of the deployment)
Said brass then yells and screams at cops, supervisors that they drove around and saw no one. When cops and supervisors point out, in order to perform the duties in the ops plan written by YOU Mr Brass, they need to go into the shops, and alleys, ops plan rescinded, so when said CS Pogue drives up and down Newbury St and Boylston St he can see his men
(note to mods-sorry to derail this thread LOL!)
Word as of yesterday 7 drop outs already.
M'eh my academy was the hardest...see attached archive footage
Walking beats have their place in a large city like Boston (community policing etc). However, if you can't staff your regular shifts, then walking beats need to go bye bye. My department used to do them as overtime, if no one wanted it, then the sector car, would have to get out and walk around, but be available for calls for service.
Anyone know when the next academy for boston is or when they will send notifications
First time poster. Does anyone know how they notify you of the academy? I did pretty well on the exam (97%), but haven't heard anything. Do they do the background check and everything first, or will I receive a notice in the mail first? I haven't heard anything since taking the exam, and just wasn't sure what to expect going forward.
Just to follow up- How deep into the list does it usually get? How far down over the 2 year span?
You'll receive an email when they start the hiring process. They haven't sent any out yet but later this year they will if they're doing another class.
They can get down to about 5-600
Hey guys, has anyone heard anything about when the next class will be or perhaps when cards will be sent out? Figure it will be soon considering the amount of baby boomers retiring in the next year or so, any insight would be appreciated.
My mole in the BPD said there is a class starting in the fall. So keep your eyes on the mailbox and on this thread.
Heard next class was in December... ? Wouldn't the process be more than a couple months
What makes you think any government function in Massachusetts would run faster than that?
Probably December or January with cards going out next month.
Got a card today anyone else?
Yup, I did
