An incarcerated New Bedford man was convicted this week of throwing his urine and feces at prison guards in a maximum security prison in Shirley.
Frank J. Lorenzi, 33, has been relocated to the Worcester County House of Corrections after he admitted to sufficient facts for a guilty finding on 10 counts of assault and battery on a public employee, and three counts of vandalizing property.
According to a report in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, correctional officers at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center filed 11 complaints against Mr. Lorenzi, documenting several instances between July and November 2007 where he reportedly flung his urine and feces at them.
Whenever a prison guard passed by his cell, Mr. Lorenzi would throw a cup of his urine over the door or through an opening in the door.
He was sentenced to 2½ years in the Worcester County House of Corrections.
According to New Bedford police, Mr. Lorenzi has an extensive criminal record. He's been arraigned on 44 criminal charges that include firearms offenses, assault and battery, and manslaughter.
He was serving a sentence for a manslaughter conviction that he was scheduled to finish this month, police said.
"He's no stranger to law enforcement," New Bedford police spokesman Lt. Jeffrey P. Silva said.
