    NEW YORK (AP) —
Miguel Ferrer, who brought stern authority to his featured role on CBS' hit drama "NCIS: Los Angeles" and, before that, to "Crossing Jordan," has died.

CBS said Ferrer died Thursday of cancer at his Los Angeles home. He was 61.

He had played assistant director Owen Granger on "NCIS: Los Angeles" since 2012. Before that, he played the chief medical examiner and boss to series star Jill Hennessy for the six seasons of NBC's "Crossing Jordan."

Kilvinsky I think, therefore I'll never be promoted.

This guy was fantastic. I'm so sorry to see him gone and at such a young age (when your 57, 61 IS young). He could do it all, drama and comedy and do it very well. He was at his best in comedy. No one can match his role in "Hot Shots: Part Deux". RIP man, you were one in a million.

I agree Kilv. I liked him in his most recent gig on NICS LA. It happened too fast and I agree, too young!

You know something, I put, on a different thread, that there was a ONE star deficit. I forgot about Ms. Moore and Mr. Ferrer. I think we have a bigger deficit.
