NATICK - A Natick Police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday when his cruiser was broadsided by a car that ran a red light, police said.

Officer Eric Bazigian, 30, suffered minor injuries to the right side of his body after the 10:50 p.m. crash at the intersection of Speen Street and Mall Road, said police Lt. Nick Mabardy.

Bazigian was treated at MetroWest Medical Center's Leonard Morse campus and released.

"He was pretty sore," said Mabardy. "He's pretty sore on his right side everything was pushed into him."

The driver of the Saturn sedan Kathleen Jacobson, 23, of 45 Boston Post Road, Marlborough was cited for failing to stop for a red light. She refused medical treatment, the lieutenant said.

Bazigian was stopped at a red light on Speen Street on the way to the mall when the light turned green. He went through the light, and his 2005 Crown Victoria cruiser was broadsided by the Saturn.

"The front and rear passenger doors are heavily damaged," said Mabardy. "She pretty much T-boned the right middle of the car."

Neither car was totaled, but both sustained heavy damage, the lieutenant said.

It is unclear whether Bazigian is going to miss any time at work, Mabardy said.

Good to hear no serious injuries happened. The odds are stacked against us with all the driving hours POs put in.
