$39,374 (Annualized Salary Rate)
POSITION SUMMARY: Police work in the enforcement of State Statutes, laws, ordinances, and traffic
laws within the City. Responsibility for the protection of life and property, the prevention, detection
and investigation of crime, and for maintaining law and order.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable
equivalency diploma; two years of college or equivalent in experience required. Basic Recruit
Certification of Compliance for Law Enforcement Officers for the state of Florida or other U.S. states
preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be at least 19 years of age. Valid Florida Driver's license
required upon employment, and a driving record, which meets or exceeds City's standards. Must pass
able to pass background process and a psychological exam. Must be in sufficient physical condition to
pass a medical exam and physical ability test which includes exiting vehicle/open trunk, 220 yard run
(twice), obstacle course (twice), dummy drag, dry fire weapon, and place items in trunk/enter vehicle
within a six minute, four second time limit.
ADA PROFILE: Tasks may involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately
physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of
heavy objects and materials (up to 150 pounds). Some tasks require the ability to perceive and
discriminate sounds, visual perception and discrimination, and oral communications ability. Tasks may risk
exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature and noise
extremes, machinery, violence, disease, and/or toxic/poisonous agents.
