I was sitting at the Beverly RMV today waiting to renew my motorcycle registration. There were 2 windows open infront of me and going by the ticket numbers about 20 people. I swear to god 15 of these people were the most wound up emotional basket cases.

Some didnt bring their old registration for a renewal and would scream that it was in the computer and they wernt told to bring it, some have extensive tickets and would try and plead a case to the RMV worker---one woman broke out the tear chain.

People cant figure out why they cant get thier license renewed in the registration line-----despite haveing been told were to go when they got thier ticket at the door.

And after the worker would say......in a rather freindly tone "I am sorry I cant help you, this is what you need to do." The people would demand to see a supervisor and hold up the line and make a scene

I personally never thought it was a difficult task renewing my registation. I already had the check filled out, with the plate number on it and the old registration. I also found it funny that people make such a specticle of themselves in a feeble and pointless attempt to get out of a 10 dollar parking ticket, or cover thier own stupidty cause they didnt bring thier registration.

I work at the ticket office at my school, and when I first started there I couldn't believe the amount of people that bitch and complain about the tickets they receive, or get mad at us for their car getting towed because they have tickets and are on the boot tow list. Now, it's just a regular occurance, but people come in and slam stuff around, yell at us, tell us that they "didn't know" they couldn't do whatever it was they did. It's now January and people STILL come in saying they didn't know they couldn't do _____. These people are in their 20's, and they still have mommy or daddy calling or coming in to dispute the ticket. Some kid even owes like $500 to us. It's ridiculous.

BadDog,

Your school should take the approach that they take at BC. Unless ALL fines are paid up you don't get your grades (which can mean that you lose your scholarships, continuing loans, etc.) and you can not graduate!

That generally gets them to come around and pay up. :sly:

I know that the problem my school has is that the tickets go right on the student's account and these kids just don't care. Mommy and Daddy get the bill and just pay it off. We boot cars and they still don't learn. We have 1 student who as at least $750+ in tickets since September.

Oh great, the employees at the registry sound like they're getting the 'retail experience'.

I wonder if it's any fun being a trooper assigned to an RMV office...

I renewed my reg on-line, avoiding the necessity of a dis con arrest.

At the college I used to work for, the freshmen received a roll of "call-mommy-dimes" with their orientation package...perhaps they should extend that to all undergrads, and even grad rudents! 8)

Actually, it goes to the RMV, so they can't register their car or renew their license. I agree that it should go onto their account, but we go through the actual registry. I am only a student worker so I don't really know the detailed background. I think it works out well being with the registry. A lot of kids have no idea and they say "oh I just won't pay this, it's just the college", but then their car gets towed, or they have to renew their reg. or license and realize they can't.

I just don't understand why people don't park where they're supposed to park!! It's not that difficult. I got one ticket and I paid it. Done and done.

I have to say, the best excuse for parking somewhere was...this girl parked in a fire lane, and she got a ticket. She appealed it, on the appeal form she said "I had my hazards on, I didn't know it was illegal to park with my hazards on". NO you moron. It's illegal to park in a fire lane!! Oh then this lady paid a parking ticket in protest. I didn't know paying a ticket was protesting it. Some people I just don't understand.

In alot of civil cases when a customer is unsatisfied with work or services and plans to bring it to small claims court. He/She puts on the check "Paid under protest".
This signifies to the judge that they were not happy with the work or item at the time. It sort of gives more weight to a plaintif's case and makes it seem like they arnt coming back at a later time trying to get something for nothing.

She paid it but me thinks that lady probally planned to bring to court. Or she was just crazy. :p

She WAS weird. She whipped the door open, saw one of the officers sitting there, and politely gave it to us. She wrote a letter saying that she was protesting it, but didn't write that on the check. Besides which, she was parked in a fire lane. I give no sympathy to people parked in firelanes or handicapped spots. I don't care if you were there for a second or an hour, it's not necessary.

Our parking tickets go to the RMV and then if they dont pay they dont get to renew mr. license or mr. registration. Its amazing how many phone calls we get from people who laugh about tickets when they get them, and then a few months call and complain "You were serious I really have to pay that", or they expect the 50.00 in late fees to be waived because they didnt read the instructions on the ticket. Oh well :D
