Mississippi Motorcycle Officer Killed in Crash

    The Sun Herald, Biloxi, Miss.

    Gulfport police Lt. Rob Curry, 39, died in this morning's crash on U.S. 49 in Gulfport's Orange Grove area.
    Gulfport police officials and the Harrison County coroner made the announcement in a press conference where they were joined by Mayor Brent Warr and other officials.
    Curry was a 14-year law enforcement officer and military veteran.
    His survivors include his wife, also a police lieutenant, and two children.
    Curry was on a motorcycle this morning when the accident happened, in the northbound lane of U.S. 49 between Community and Dedeaux roads, Gulfport Police Sgt. Rick Fisher said.
    The 10:27 a.m. accident involved at least one other vehicle.
    Curry was rushed to Garden Park Medical Center.
    Biloxi police officers and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are conducting an independent investigation.
