Man Disappeared Wednesday Afternoon, Police Say

WATERFORD, Conn. -- The search for a missing Waterford man ended Friday morning when his body was found at the entrance of Harkness State Park.

Waterford Police Chief Murray Pendleton said the death doesn't seem suspicious.

Police spent almost two days looking for 36-year-old Gregory Colonis, of Niles Hill Road. His family told police he disappeared at 4 or 5 p.m. Wednesday after he was doing yard work and talking to his mother outside his home.

The search began Wednesday night and continued into Friday morning. A section of Niles Hill Road by Seabreeze Drive, in front of the Colonis' home, was sectioned off by traffic cones. Police used that area for a command unit until Thursday evening.
Six canine teams searched Harkness State Park, Waterford Beach Park and other areas Thursday for Colonis, along with the Waterford Police Department's ATV unit and two search boats from the police and fire departments.

State police also assisted with the search, using bloodhounds and aircrafts.
