Lightning knocks down chimney
MILLVILLE - Lightning hit a house on Central Street yesterday afternoon, knocking the chimney down, police said.
The lightning hit the chimney at 40 Central St. about 3 p.m., police said.
The building inspector deemed the house safe to stay in, police said.
The lightning did not cause a fire.

Truck catches fire from live wires
UXBRIDGE - A truck backed into live wires last night, causing a fire in the vehicle and power outages, police said.
The tractor-trailer hit the wires about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Quaker Highway and Providence Street, police said.
Crews had to wait to put out the fire until National Grid arrived to deal with the live wires, police said. It took more than 30 minutes for National Grid to get to the fire, police said.
Power outages were reported in Uxbridge and Millville, police said.
No one was injured.

R.I. man charged with disorderly conduct
BELLINGHAM - A 35-year-old Cumberland, R.I., man was arrested Wednesday night and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and threatening to commit a crime, police said.
Shaun Michael Hill, of 33 Whispering Pines, was arrested around 10:45 p.m. at 33 Scott St. after police said he threatened his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend.
