MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - Milford police say an alleged abduction attempt on Labor Day by someone wearing a "Lone Ranger" mask has proven to be an innocent encounter.
Officials had asked parents in Orange and Milford to be on the lookout for a woman who allegedly tried to abduct a 7-year-old girl from Milford.
The alleged "suspicious encounter" occurred in a parking lot near the Milford/Orange line.
Police say after the publicity concerning the event surfaced, police were led to the owner of the car, who police determined to be legitimately in the area.
The girl had told police that a woman in a car had put on a black-colored mask and reached out of the car toward the girl, who fled.
