NORTH HAMPTON, NH — Police arrested a Massachusetts man who allegedly fled a residence he was attempting to burglarize after being confronted in the home.
Police say Carlos Santiago, 44, of Springfield, turned himself in to police after an arrest warrant was issued by the North Hampton Police Department and detective Peter Cormier. Police say Santiago broke into a home on Exeter Road at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 and was then confronted by a female resident, home alone at the time. He then allegedly fled the residence.
The resident reported that Santiago left the home in a company vehicle parked in her driveway. Police on the scene after the break-in interviewed the resident and neighbors, who police say were critical in aiding the case.
Santiago is currently being held at Rockingham County Jail on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned at Hampton District Court on Oct. 29.
