Police arrested a Westborough man yesterday and charged him with stabbing two men outside the McDonald's on Rte. 85 early Saturday - one of two stabbings that night, police said.
Police have charged Roberto Rivera, 31, of Park Street, with two counts of assault with intent to kill, Lt. Robert Jusseaume said. Rivera also faces one count of assault with a dangerous weapon for threatening a person who tried to intervene, Jusseaume said.
Marlborough and Westborough police arrested Rivera at his home. Leads in the case and descriptions given to officers led to Rivera's arrest, Jusseaume said. There may be additional charges against others, he added.
One of the stabbing victims was released from UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Jusseaume said. The status of the other man was unclear, however, as of Saturday, both men had been listed in stable condition at UMass Memorial.
Police say the stabbings resulted from a confrontation earlier in the night at Speakers Night Club, 19 Weed St., Jusseaume said.
Rivera was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail and will be arraigned today in Marlborough District Court, Jusseaume said.
Police are also investigating the stabbing of a man in the parking lot of The Lazy Dog restaurant, 31 Main St., that took place at 2:05 a.m. Saturday - a few minutes after the McDonald's incident.
The victim was also taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening, police said.
The stabbings don't seem connected, Capt. Paul Valianti said.
``I think it's more coincidental,'' he said.
Police are still investigating, Jusseaume said.
