SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two people were stabbed Friday morning after a fight got out of hand in Springfield. It happened outside of 55 Wilmot Street around midnight.
According to Springfield Detective Rodriguez, the fight started between two people. A third person became involved, and then a fourth person as well. That individual received severe stab wounds.
Springfield Police Captain John Barbieri said that the man was stabbed in the abdomen during the altercation. He was driven to Mercy Medical Center by a friend, then transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he received surgery for life-threatening injuries. He is in critical condition and is being closely monitored.
The other victim was stabbed in the cheek. His condition is not as severe. Captain Robert McFarland said the victim has been treated and realeased.
Police have identified a suspect and are currently on the lookout for his whereabouts.
