Police Searching For Clues After Incident

BOSTON -- A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car that fled the scene in Lawrence early Friday.

The unidentified victim was walking in front of the Claddagh Pub on Canal Street in Lawrence at around 1:30 a.m. Friday when he was hit by a vehicle. The driver left the scene. Police said they do not have a description of the vehicle.

The victim is in critical condition, but is expected to survive, police said.
Police said it is unclear if the incident was intentional or accidental, or if the victim was at the bar of just walking by.

Police said they were still interviewing witnesses.

Thirsty Thursday at the Claddagh...ahhh the good old days. Happened at 130 too how convenient that's when the lights turn on and everyone starts to leave. The place was obviously packed as Merrimack is back in session. Hard to believe they don't have a description of the car.

The Claddagh always has a police detail at night too.

Everyone must be out by 1:30am on a thursday night in Lawrence. No alcohol can be served after 1am. Friday night is the only night that last call isn't until 2am, although I'm not sure if the Claddagh is allowed, considering all the trouble they've had. We usually have a big 1-2am rush on Friday nights because most bars can't stay open that late. Suprisingly, we haven't had many incidents during those hours, only one time have we had to call the police.
