Investigators Release More Information

SEBAGO, Maine -- Sheriff's deputies shot an armed man who authorities said was involved in an incident of road rage Wednesday night.

Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion said deputies shot Douglas Tenczar, 41, on Ledge Road in Sebago. A woman and two female juveniles said Tenczar waved a gun at them while they were driving on Route 114 from Standish.

Deputies who arrived at the scene said Tenczar pointed a long gun at them, at which time the deputies said they fired at him. Tenczar is in critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Sgt. David Hall and Deputy Stephen Welsh are on paid administrative leave pending the investigation of the Attorney General's Office, which is standard practice after any officer-involved shooting.

Police said Tenczar was previously arrested three times on OUI charges

Sebago Man Indicted On Charges Of Criminal Threatening

SEBAGO, Maine -- A Sebago man shot by sheriff's deputies last October after he allegedly confronted them with a shotgun has been indicted on two counts of criminal threatening with a weapon.

A Cumberland County grand jury indicted 41-year-old Douglas Tenczar last week.

Deputies went to Tenczar's home on Ledge Road last Oct. 22 to talk with him about a reported road rage incident involving a man who had waved a handgun at three teenage girls.
Police said they shot Tenczar when they saw him pointing a shotgun at them through a window.
