SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP, July 16, 2003) - He was once patrolling the streets for drug trafficking, but now he's charged with the very same crime. Springfield police officer Vincent Savage appeared in Springfield district court just a short time ago. Savage is charged with selling cocaine on seven different occasions between June 19th and July 15th, 2003. This includes 2 times while on duty. Savage was reportedly caught in the act yesterday during an undercover operation involving Springfield and state police. His bail was set at 50 thousand dollars cash. He has been suspended for 5 days from the Springfield police department. District Attorney William Bennett says savage will be treated as any other person.
