University Police, CSU-Long Beach was recently selected as the #1 police department for police services and customer satisfaction among the other 23 CSU campuses. CSU-Long Beach has 25 sworn officers that patrol the campus and a one-mile radius.

The Police Officer (Academy graduate/Lateral) must have graduated from a certified California POST academy, possess a valid California driver’s license, pass a physical agility test, oral and/or written examination, medical examination, psychological testing, drug test, and pass a through background check.

The Police Officer Cadet is a non-sworn position while attending formalized California POST training academy. The Cadet must successfully pass all phases of training to retain the position. Upon successful completion of an academy, the cadet will be advanced to the rank of Police Officer on a probationary status.

Applicants who meet the qualifications will be invited to take the physical agility test. Applicants who pass the physical agility test will be invited to the Oral Board interview.

Benefits package includes: medical, dental, and vision care, PERS retirement of 3% @50, uniform allowance, employer pays all PERS, extra pay for intermediate and advanced POST certificates, fee waiver for officer or spouse of 6 semester units for $3, 3/12 work week, and other excellent benefits.
